ABOUT DENNIS BONO
|
|
|
Dennis Bono is considered by many people to be the consummate interpreter of the Great
American Songbook. The Chicago Tribune proclaimed him to be "a thoroughbred singer, born and bred
to sing." Dennis Bono has won even greater acclaim, by starring
as the host of his own, successful, variety/talk show, featuring celebrity guests from the world of entertainment. Dennis's
show, "Las Vegas
Now," is performed in
front of a live audience, open to everyone, at Sam's Town Live, in Sam's Town Hotel & Casino, in the entertainment capital of the
world, fabulous Las Vegas. |
|
"Las Vegas Now," which consistently draws a large audience
at Sam's Town, is performed and also taped, live, and
then broadcast on popular Las
Vegas FM radio station 104.3 KJUL, on Friday evenings at 7:00 pm. Radio
station KJUL is Las Vegas's most listened-to radio
station, with over 170,000 listeners. |

|
|
|
The real key to the success of the show, "Las Vegas Now," is that Dennis Bono gets friendly and intimate with his
guests in a breezy and funny and interesting way; he is one of them. And, whether he is
performing on radio or in front of a live audience, Dennis is always the perfect host: He is gracious and charming,
self-deprecating, attentive and witty. |
|
Before launching his career as a talk-show
host, Dennis Bono started out in the 1970s and 1980s by
performing on the East Coast club circuit, appearing at Playboy clubs and resorts in the Caribbean, and once even singing the national anthem at Yankee Stadium. |

More fame and acclaim was in store for Dennis Bono, and was soon to come his way. In 1989,
while Dennis was living and performing on the East Coast,
his first music CD was gaining much attention on the West Coast. Jilly Rizzo heard the buzz about this new
up-and-coming singer Dennis
Bono, and decided to give
Dennis a call. Jilly Rizzo introduced Dennis to his closest friend
and confidant, Frank Sinatra. Both Jilly Rizzo and Frank
Sinatra were impressed by
Dennis Bono's discerning taste in music, as well as by his own musical interpretation of
the Great American Songbook. Frank
Sinatra is on record as
praising of Dennis Bono, "This is the kid who is going to
carry the torch." |
|
In the same way as Jilly Rizzo and Frank Sinatra helped to guide Dennis's career, Dennis now also provides a similar
opportunity, on "Las
Vegas Now," for young
up-and-coming artists to be discovered and to showcase their talents on his show. |
|
|
|
|
Dennis Bono's philosophy about the
music classics and standards is, "Great songs stand the test of time, and allow every
singer the opportunity to interpret the lyrics and melody in a fresh way that makes the
song literally come to life." |
|
Dennis Bono honed his talented vocal abilities and
professional stage craft, by singing and touring, from fabulous Las Vegas to Japan, and everywhere in-between. A big tour with comedian Don Rickles included Bally's Grand Hotel, in Atlantic City, and The
Golden Nugget and The Tropicana, in Las Vegas. In the early 1990s, on the Strip in Las Vegas, Dennis Bono headlined at The
Desert Inn, for two years,
and then helped open The
Venetian, in 1999. In 2000, Dennis Bono embarked upon, and returned elated from,
a successful, five-week personal appearance tour of Japan. |

|
|
Also in 2000, Dennis Bono released his second CD, "Forget To Remember," which received even greater recognition
than his first. Dennis realized that he could reach even more people through the mediums
of radio and television. The concept of "Las Vegas Now" was to appeal to the 40-and-over demographic, which was seen to be a
largely neglected audience. |
|
In addition to the show, Dennis Bono continues to perform concert dates, and
has recently released a new CD/VHS package to the national and international markets. It
is destined to become a must-have collector's item in any Las Vegas collection. The CD/VHS is called "Reflections Of Las Vegas." |
